About Insulators Local 50
The International Association of Heat and Frost Insulators and Allied Workers of the United States and Canada has a proud history dating back to 1903. Our members install and maintain mechanical insulation systems, firestopping material and noise reduction material, and also perform lead and asbestos mitigation and specialty fabrication to meet project specifications.
Insulators Local 50 represents nearly 200 of the best-trained and most-qualified insulation industry professionals across central Ohio. Local 50 is the result of the 2005 merger of Local 44 in Columbus and Local 79 in Dayton. Our jurisdiction extends from the eastern to western borders of the state of Ohio and two counties in Indiana. We currently maintain our union hall and training center in Columbus and Dayton, respectively.
Insulators Local 50’s registered apprenticeship program ensures that our members are the best-trained and most highly-skilled workers in the industry. The Joint Apprenticeship Training Committee (JATC) is a partnership of Insulators Local 50 and our signatory contractors and it funds and manages our apprenticeship program and journeyman upgrade training. We operate under a Professional Craftsman Code of Conduct (PCC) that promotes jobsite excellence and customer satisfaction. Insulators Local 50 requires drug-free and alcohol-free jobsites to ensure workplace safety and efficiency.
